I definitely like this story, though I've read others (in other fandoms) that use the same premise. I'm loving how you paint Kaito and Shinichi - they've grown, but they're still in character for the situations they've had to endure. One little nitpick I have is when you said Shinichi's name means "one truth". That's incorrect. His name is spelled "新一" which means "new one" rather than "true one" (眞一). But, other than that? I like it. Watching Kaito flail and fumble trying to live the past three years over again is greatly amusing.

I just wanted to say...

You're right about his name. That particular kanji means "new one" and is read "Shinichi" but if you disregard the kanji, you can say that "shin" (also a way to read "truth") makes it "true one" or "one truth". This was done intentionally by Gosho. He wanted it to mean "one truth" like Shinichi/Conan's saying "There is always only one truth!" But he also wanted it to mean "new one" referring to the birth of Conan. Not many people realize that, but there are so many of these subtleties that Gosho has added to DC and MK that I doubt even he could pick them all out! It adds just a little bit of humor, and for those who figure it out, they get a feeling of accomplishment (or something), though I think he just finds it fun to make up puzzles like that in his spare time.
And, of course, watching Kaito flail and fumble is always greatly amusing!
